Okay, back to our insights!

This time we have the latest insights from a survey by our very own IDP-Connect team.

Are people convincing you that students have given up on their study abroad dreams and are looking for options back home? Let them not take you away from your dreams, because our studies tell a different story.

Of the 3600+ students from 55 countries who were part of the “New Horizons” research, more than 75% of them said that they are looking for the traditional study abroad experience wherein they will get to travel to a different country, experience the culture, get to know the place and people and also interact with people from across the globe! We can assure you that, it is an experience unmatched by any other.

A little over 15% of them are willing to start their studies online but would want to switch to an on-campus mode of learning as soon as the situation proves favourable. Only around 10% of the total number of students were willing to consider an online-only mode of learning at a foreign institution. Here are more details about the respondents of the survey and some more facts for you to consume:

  • Of the 3650 respondents, 1133 were Indians
  • Majority of the total number of respondents belonged to the age group 18-21 followed by the 22-25 age group.
  • Majority of these respondents were looking to study PG courses
  • A majority of them were planning to begin their studies in 2022.

Do you know which country topped the list of the most preferred destinations? It was Canada. In fact, Canada was the first choice for 39% of the respondents. The UK, Australia and the USA were the next in line as the most preferred destinations.

Some of the factors that influenced their choice of destination include the qualification serving as a means of pathway to migrate to that country and the post-study work options available.

Check out the detailed report and find out more interesting facts about student preferences.

The next one is for students looking to study in the UK:

The Higher Education Policy Institute in the UK in partnership with Kaplan International Pathways commissioned the research and released their findings in the report on Career and Employability Support for International Students at UK Universities. The quantitative survey was conducted online and more than 1000 students responded to the survey.

The survey revealed that career support that the students believed they would receive, was very important when choosing where to study. Over 80% of the respondents were of this opinion. 92% of them felt that the employability skills that they’ll develop, mattered a lot.

More details about the respondents of this survey:

  • Over 70% of the respondents were international students from countries outside the EU. 26% of the respondents were from the EU.
  • 45% of the students were postgraduate students. Less than 40% of them were undergraduate students.

Here is some other promising news that we came across:

The number of U.S. student visas granted this year has hit a record high this year. As per a news report by the Times of India, Over 55,000 student visas were granted this year to Indian students. Kudos to people like you who have your eyes set on your goal, which the pandemic cannot deter.
