With such a diverse student body, the admission criteria are tailored to ensure that everyone has a fair chance to attend.
Undergraduate students will need to be able to demonstrate a successful high school education or equivalent, and must have maintained the equivalent of a B grade point average OR achieved a 22 on the ACT OR an 1120 on the SAT. EITHER an admissible grade point average OR test score will gain you admission! This test optional policy provides helpful options for applicants. Additionally, UNLV does not require an admission essay, letters of recommendation or a co-curricular resume - they keep the process very simple for students! Admission requirements for graduate students will vary by department.
Students will also be required to speak English, which can be verified through various accepted testing methods. Students who are not proficient but meet university admission criteria will be offered the opportunity to study through the university’s ESL Bridge Program. International students will be asked to pay a USD 95 fee with their application to cover costs.
UNLV is recognized for its excellence in a number of areas, with a range of study programs that have been placed highly in national and international surveys. The U.S. News & World Report’s annual collection of study fields has placed 26 of UNLV’s programs within the top 100 of their respective areas, with the Nuclear Engineering and Criminal Justice courses both within the top 30.
