The college’s dental programs have recently moved to the new Vanport Building. In downtown Portland, the 175,000-square-foot education, health, and civic center is home to several programs. PCC has teamed up with Horizon Air Industries to provide a new program in aircraft mechanics and the aviation industry. The college offers several financial aid opportunities and resources to help students pay for their education.
Scholarships are available to support students at PCC. These are open to everyone, even to international students.
Students can find help with scholarships by attending free workshops. These help students put together strong scholarship applications.
Online help is also available via the scholarship application guide. This is a step-by-step online resource that helps with things like writing essays and asking for references.
International students must provide academic transcripts from their most recent school, college, or university. If they have studied in the US, they must submit all transcripts from schools they have attended.
If students have non-English transcripts, they must submit an English translation with the original copy.
Students do not need English language proficiency to attend PCC. This is because new internationals take a placing test from the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) department. They then take the appropriate class to reach the necessary standard of English language ability.
Those who have proof of their English language proficiency may be exempt from the ESOL program.
Students must be age 18 or above by the time they begin their first term at PCC. However, some students aged 16 or 17 may be exempt if they meet certain requirements.
Many facilities help students with their daily life at PCC. Students also enjoy the many leisure facilities and activities on offer.
There is also the Student Leadership community. It supports clubs, provides free resources, and organizes engagement and information events.
The student government works looks out for PCC students by organizing and campaigning on their behalf. It also provides enrichment experiences, leadership opportunities, and special events.
International students can get all the guidance they need from the OISS. Staff are friendly and inform students of all the opportunities they can access.
The team helps internationals with the admissions process, immigration, and academic choices. They ensure students have a good start through the New International Student Week, held every term. They also host fun events to help international and US students integrate.
